Hercanic vs Messiah00Guy
Map: The Small Divide
STF 2.0.1

I built up 12 Engineers while chatting with m0g. He was talking about how evil this map was. Earlier, I had played a game with Jason on the same map. Jason had played me by saying he'd never been on this map, and acted surprised when he "found out" it was an island map. That prompted me not to build any defenses, which lead to my downfall against Jason. So, I made the same ploy against m0g. I knew that since he knew it was an island, he'd go Support for Ospreys. So after building a few Sentries and an Osprey, I went hunting. Whoever could get in the first Osprey shot would be put ahead. I found his Osprey hanging out at his main, and he had built no defenses yet. One Sentrie was in the works, though. I took advantage of his unpreparedness and launched an attack on his Osprey. Instead of fighting, he ran. I easily took it out with minimal damage sustained from a Scout on the ground. That set him back one Osprey, not only metal-wise, but also time-wise. He wouldn't be able to expand until he got a second Osprey. I took advantage of that fact, and built a Sentrygun in each of the only two expansions. Scouts are worthless against them, and he had already choosen his add-on. He'd need a whole new Hub and add-on before he could take out that Sentrygun. Time was in my favor now.

Unfortunately, I hadn't taken into consideration how poorly placed some of my Sentryguns were. m0g was able to slip 3 Scouts past, and raped quite a few of my Engineers. I didn't realize the tactic at first, but when I did, I chased them down with a group of Engineers, trying to buy time while another Engineer worked on a Sentry to plug up the holes. I killed the three Scouts with Engineers, but there was still another hole I didn't take into account, and m0g had another three Scouts on the way.

I began rebuilding my Engineers, both at my main and at my shiny new expansion. When his second wave came, he could only get at my Refinery and workers there, so losses were at a minimal, though still were losses. I soon plugged up that hole, and began fortyfying my expansion. Scouting earlier with an Osprey, I saw he had another Hub well underway. Now, that Hub had an Assault add-on, the same one I had been planning from my own Hub. Of course, his Hub was in his main, while mine was in my expansion. I had a resource lead, my blocking Sentry still stood at his natural. However, I knew it would soon fall, now that he had Assault troops.

I decided to preempt his assault bu building a group of Sentries at his expansion. However, my decision came too late, as he was already preparing to attack. I was halfway complete with my second Sentry when he dropped his group of men and layed waste to the single Sentry. I grabbed my Engineer over there and cancelled the Sentry. The Osprey got out okay.

My Assault add-on finished. I was plump with well over 1000 metal, and started building Soldiers. I can't completely recall the events that happened in this time, but I remember I brought two Soldiers over to his natural, and was surprised to see he hadn't expanded into it yet. I scouted some more and found he had an FF in the works. Some things happened during this time, and I dropped my Soldiers down in a little skirmish, trying to take out his Osprey. His FF attacked, but with two Soldiers and an Osprey, I widdled its health down to 100 hp. Unfortunately, I lost my Osprey and my two Soldiers soon became one, and then none. Before he died, he did manage to squirt off one final rocket, though it failed to deliver the final blow to the FF.

Not too long after, or, this might have happened before what happened before, my memory fades, but he launched an attack on my expansion. He had quite a large force of HW Guys, Soldiers, and a Medic. I had two Sentryguns that could reach where his force landed. He attacked, just as one of my Soldiers finished building. He joined the fight. I knew the odds weren't in my favor, so taking advantage of his forces distracted nature, I rushed in early with a troop of Engineers. With their combined power, they took out an HW Guy, a Soldier, and the Medic. His troops weren't sure whether to focus on the Sentries or the Engineers. I managed to destroy the entire invasion force. I sent the survivors back to work and proceeded to thicken my Sentrygun line and increase Soldier production.

His second attack came sooner than expected, but I was ready. The force was soon taken out, with only one of my Sentryguns and a Soldier on the casualty list. I knew he had to have been exhausted by those attacks, and soon I had well over 10 Soldiers. I could only take 8, though. All the while I had also been upgrading Plating. I was at lv3 now. Anywho, I picked up my attack force and flew up to the top of the map and then over to the left. He had an Engineer working on a Sentrygun right there. How fortunate I decided to attack now, so I wouldn't have to deal with one of those pesky things. I dropped my soldiers and obliterated the under-construction Sentry and Engineer, then proceeded to his base. Surprisingly, he still had a decent force left, and my Soldiers fell victim to several waves of EMP, weakening them enough for his smaller defensive troops to gain an advantage. I did, however, knock out most of his forces, but in the end all my Soldiers parished. But back at my expansion, I had four more Soldiers ready to go. I ran my Osprey back and picked them up. I knew I needed to attack immediately, before he could replenish his fighting force. Victory was within my grasp.

Beforehand, I didn't have Hand Grenades researched, meaning the Scouts had an advantage. But now I did, so in my next attack, I was sure to use them, purging the energy that could be used against me. It seemed most of his forces were guarding his expansion, so I had free reign for a little while. Then some of his men arrived, I forget how many, but there were some Scouts and something else. I lost one Soldier, and chased down a Scout and Osprey, heavily damaging the Osprey. The Osprey, for who knows why, picked up the Scout, and my own Osprey then finished it off with Sidewinders. His main base, with his only two Hubs, was all mine, and I processed them into rubble. What was left was his expansion, which he had moved his FF into and built Camouflage Netting. However, my three Soldiers had enough range where they could hit the FF themselves from up above. M0g had frantically built two Sentries for protection during my attack on his main, so I lost another Soldier to that. However, I was able to take out the Sentries and the FF, taking away his cloaking. Then my Osprey picked up 5 more Soldiers waiting in my expansion and dropped them into his expansion, eliminating everything else.

The End. The result: m0g got owned. >=o)
